  • Experience operating GPS and total stations.
  • Review CDOT constructions plans and provide accurate calculations.
  • Experience with CAD software a plus.

Heavy Highway Structures Estimator

Hamon Infrastructure has an immediate opening for an experienced Estimator with a background in heavy civil construction. The Estimator will be based Denver and be responsible for earthwork, structures, and underground utility projects. No travel will be required. The Estimator will manage all aspects of developing cost estimates for large heavy civil projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews proposal specifications, drawings and attends pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate
  • Performs quantity takeoffs
  • Vendor solicitation and DBE compliance
  • Prepares estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work; prices work items accordingly
  • Identify and analyze risk in bids
  • Analyzes subcontract quotes and prepares bid documents, order bonds
  • Performs various administrative duties, including job set-ups after award

Requirements and Qualifications

  • 4-year Engineering or Construction Management Degree or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience
  • Previous experience working with HCSS (Heavybid Software), Agtek, and Primavera P6 strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 3 -7 years’ experience working in an estimating role within the heavy civil industry with specific emphasis on bridge, railroad, or marine structures.
  • Knowledge of accounting with the ability to understand cost, price, and quantity variances and their impact on profit.
  • Knowledge of construction terms, methods, and procedures specifically in bridge construction.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in determining and/or acquiring job bids quickly and accurately
  • Teamwork and collaboration essential.
  • Effective communication and/or interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly identify problems in estimates.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide field leadership and management of craft in one of several disciplines (Piping/Electrical/Insulation, I&C) in a project environment
  • Ensure project safety and quality performance through personal examples as well as supervision activities
  • Direct and perform operations of construction management system as required
  • Manage job cost reports and budget

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Five or more years’ experience in heavy construction environment with union craft management experience in one of the disciplines mentioned above.
  • Experience in labor and cost planning and budget
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project craft, staff, and management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced project field environment; must be able to interact professionally with all levels of management while simultaneously manage a diversified workload and challenging situations efficiently and effectively; regularly sit, stand, walk and talk and listen; occasionally lift and move up objects up to 50 pounds.
