Hamon Infrastructure constructed a grade separation between Arapahoe and Parker Roads relieving congestion on the busiest urban interchange in Colorado. The Arapahoe and Parker Road interchange currently carries 110,000 vehicles/day with current estimates predicting 170,000 vehicles/day by 2016. The work consisted of raising the 6-Lane Parker Road 30 feet while dropping 6 feet to eliminate the at-grade crossing. Additional project features included four ramps, two box culverts, a regional detention pond, a 600 foot long cast-in-place retaining wall. The Parker Road bridge is a 2-span, 265 foot long, 130 foot wide precast, prestressed concrete U-Girder structure. Additional project features include: 265,000 cy of embankment, 2,750 cy of structure concrete, 8,200 lf of RCP drainage pipe up to 90 inch diameter, 4,000 lf of potable waterline including 849 lf of 27 inch diameter welded steel line, 2,350 lf of 72 inch prestressed concrete U-Girders and 68,000 sy of concrete pavement.
Coordinating with CDOT and four separate municipalities, Hamon Infrastructure constructed a 2,000 lf detour of Parker Road handling 5 lanes of traffic including temporary retaining walls, lighting and temporary signalization.
Working with both Aurora Public Utilities and Arapahoe County Water and Wastewater, Hamon Infrastructure installed 4,000 lf of potable waterline including 849 lf of 27 inch diameter welded steel line.
While coordinating with CDOT, four different municipalities, two separate public utilities and all the various commercial stakeholders adjacent to the project Hamon Infrastructure brought this complex, congested project in on time, under budget and with a level of quality exceeding all specifications.
